How can someone support their own holistic health and wellness within their daily lives?

How can someone support their own holistic health and wellness within their daily lives when there are so many surprises that life can throw at them? We can all feel out of alignment at times, especially during this past year and a half. Although life in some areas of the country have returned to back to almost normal, there is still the Delta variant out there. We are still navigating coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic in one way or another.

Last year the world seemed to stop and what was our everyday routine was put on hold.

Perhaps you had to move because you lost employment due to the pandemic. You might have had to work at home and be your kids teachers at the same time. In addition to being a partner and the housekeeper or caretaker of a sick family member. Lots of people lost loved ones. The stresses seem endless.

Some positive hidden blessing during this time that we were on lock down were some of us reconnected with people we had not seen in a long time through zoom. What a wonderful way to let people dear to us know we were thinking of them.

Who was there for us when we were scared or lonely? Who could just listen without judgement or make us laugh ? A friend who wanted to join a book club or bake club or work out together from our living rooms together made all the difference. Being stuck at home with family and the few others in our neighborhood helped us to realize and feel the love of who is in our tribe like never before. Technology has helped us there. Those connections are everything. Let's not lose those.

Daily Health and Wellness practices help us to manage stress, support decision making, make healthy meal choices and keeping us moving. They are key in helping you continue a state of calm and centeredness. So whether you figured some out during lock down or you are just realizing now that you need to get on track, now is the time.

Some examples of daily practices that can helps us achieve a healthy mind, body and spirit are stretching, taking a walk in nature (or any walk at all), a few minutes of deep breathing, going to the gym, writing in a journal, eating a healthy meal and talking with someone that “gets you” so you can feel supported.

When these habits are in check (you are doing some daily / weekly) and are being focused on; your mind, body and spirit start to shine, to really radiate.

Not only is healthy lifestyle imperative for your physical health but taking care of your health is important for your self-esteem and self-image. Taking care of yourself first also helps you to be a better partner, parent, coworker and friend. When you feel good about yourself you are more patient with others, have less resentment and anger that builds up from stress and you are a better listener.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing what is right for your body and what works for your schedule and lifestyle. Continue to strive to be better each day, forgive yourself, allow for mistakes and setbacks and continue. Get back to the activities you enjoy, be courageous to find new ones and reach out to friends and family. Tell the people you love how much they mean to you in person or call to tell them. And don't forget to love yourself first. Your life is the greatest gift you will ever receive, don’t let it go to waste. Time waits for no one.
